book selling

For those that sell textbooks back, have any of you had luck with using eBay or Amazon? My bookstore has abysmal book buyback rates and I think I'd have better luck online. Is it better to hold onto the books and sell them in August when next year's 1Ls are beginning?

For the study aids I have noticed that they sell better come July/August.  I put mine up on Half and Amazon but have sold more on Half.  Amazon's postings end after 90 days I believe.

Thanks, Beanie. How did you determine pricing? Did you look around at what others were selling for?

I've found that new editions often come out over the summer which makes it difficult to sell books which have been updated. To price a book, look at how much it's going for brand new and then discount a certain amount for the amount of wear the book has had. Not very helpful I know, but it's a bit of a value judgement.

Actually, that's very good to know. Thanks a lot.
